Sweet & Sour Friends

How apt is this blog title?? I was trying to think of a name for this layout and as the layout contains photo’s of my girls its so true that they are friends and sometimes they are sweet to each other but then there are those rather sour times!

I had a workshop a couple of weeks ago for Aimee and she wanted to do a scrapbook layout and as Aimee is 14 or 15 I thought I’d need to make it a bit bright and it was also the perfect opportunity to play with my butterfly dies!

So after grabbing my Sweet and Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper and my butterfly dies and with a little help from a sketch by Valerie Salmon at Got Sketch this is what I came up with …

Once I’d measured out the size the strips had to be it was rather quick and easy to put together. Mind you I think I need to take more photo’s of the girls (whether they like it or not) as I’m running out and most of them are a couple years old.  I was pretty impressed that when I’d finished Caitlyn raved how much she liked it and she hates the colour orange so that had to be a good thing – Aimee and her friends loved it too!

Now I know you cant see the layout too well but if you click on the image a larger one will open to give you a better view 🙂

How cool are the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Wings and Beautiful Butterflies dies?? I just love playing with these and must say my Beautiful Wings Embosslits die has had a bit of a workout of late!

The bottom butterfly uses 2 butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies die and the larger butterfly from the Beautiful Wings die and this one works so well with vellum.

Now as you know that sticking vellum down can be tricky as you can see the adhesive below – well this one I used just a bit of snail in the middle and then applied the rhinestones to cover the adhesive below – perfect!

This image you can see the dimension of the butterflies stuck together.

Now if you wanted to you could apply this layout to a canvas or pop it in a shadow box frame so you could keep the wings up on your butterfly.  I have mine in my album and it still looks good and can see the three layers – they are just lying flat.

Now the butterfly in the top right corner again is one from each die – the smaller one from the Beautiful Butterflies and the larger one from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.

I have again used snail to stick them together and just applied the rhinestones to cover the adhesive showing through.

This is the layout that we will be creating at the Tween Scrap class during the school holidays on 21st April.  So if you are free or your daughter is free and would like to create this layout then please contact me to book your spot. Class will be $15 and if you spend $30 at the class you’ll get $5 back from the class fee!

If you cant make the class and would love to make this layout well you can purchase the kit with full instructions for just $10 plus postage.  If you wish to purchase the kit then please email me your mailing details and I will send you details on how to pay.

The Tween Scrap Class will be the first of my monthly Scrap Classes so if you’d like to attend those then please let me know – if I have enough participants I may just start a Scrap Club.  This will run similar to a Stamp Club where we will meet every month and each participant will agree to a minimum monthly spend and each month one participant will be the ‘hostess’ and receive the hostess benefits. I will also offer kits & instructions for each monthly Scrap Class.

Beautiful Day

Good Morning … well today I’m at Luna Park in Sydney to attend On Stage Sydney – an event put on by Stampin’ Up! for their Demonstrators.  So it was apt that I post this card today using the Beautiful Day Stamp Set

Beautiful Day

Beautiful Day Butterfly with Brusho by Leonie Schroder Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Australia

This card has been sitting on my desk, patiently waiting to be photographed since I held my Beautiful Brusho Class back in January!  It’s a patient little Butterfly dont you think?  The ladies loved making all the cards with the Brush Crystal Colour Powders.  They all turned out so different even though they used the same supplies and instructions. I love that about Brusho!

I love the Beautiful Day Stamp set for it’s bold images and sweet sentiments. It’s a simple stamp set of just 5 stamps but so lovely to work with for all sorts of Techniques – not just with Brusho!  The images are great embossed onto Vellum and coloured using the Stained Glass window technique or simply stamped onto whisper white and coloured with the Stampin’ Blends.

Here’s how I did this card …

  • Stamp and Heat Embossed the Butterflies in White onto Watercolour Paper.
  • Sprinkle the Brilliant Red, Gamboge and Yellow powders lightly on the card then spritzed with water.
  • Let the colours run a little and the areas I wanted a little lighter I dabbed with a paper towel.
  • I let the card dry naturally.  However, if you are time poor you can dry your card with your heat tool. You can also push your water and colours around a bit with the heat tool as well.
  • My background is then layered onto a Calypso Coral Card Base
  • My sentiment was stamped onto a scrap piece of Watercolour Paper that I’d applied the same Brusho colours to and then cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

On Stage Sydney

So you may be wondering why today is going to be so ‘Beautiful’ for me.  Well, as I said, it’s On Stage Sydney at Luna Park.  I love our city and being right next to the harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge is beautiful enough. However, at this On Stage we get to see the upcoming Annual Catalogue!  It was this time last year when I was presenting the Daisy Delight Bundle for all to see.  It was so hard to keep that under wraps as it’s a  gorgeous suite and I cant wait to see what is coming in June in the new Annual Catalogue!

Attending On Stage also means I get to catch up with my extended Team that I dont see very often and it also means I can catch up with my dear Demonstrator Friends and chat endlessly about our love of Stampin’ Up! and all the new products and tools coming!

Leonie & Ann at On Stage Sydney 2017

This picture is my dear friend, Ann Craig and I and was snapped after the event had finished.  It was a lovely sunny day and what a perfect back drop!  We will have to do another take this year so I can do a ‘then’ and ‘now’ page!

Good Evening – I do hope you’ve had a lovely Monday!  I wanted to share with you today my Petal Passion Wishes card we made at my Happy Wishes Class.

Petal Passion Wishes

The ladies all loved making this card and loved colouring with the Stampin’ Blends.  Now I know you cant currently buy the Stampin’ Blends but they will be back in June – so not too long to wait now!

Once the patterned piece from the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper pack was coloured we made our tags and assembled our card.

I went to send this card to a dear friend today but with the card base being Basic Black it’s a little hard to write on.  So then I remembered the Petal Passion Memories and More Card Pack

These cards are not only awesome for preserving your Memories but they are great for card fronts and card inserts!

I grabbed my Stampin’ Blends and coloured the flowers to match the card front

Then I just trimmed a small strip off the top of the Memories & More card and inserted it into my card.

Now my card is ready to write in and send to my dear friend!  I sure hope she likes it.  She has a love of flowers so I’m thinking she will.

Do you love the Petal Passion Suite as much as I do?  While the Stamp Set and Framelits are continuing into the new catalogue the Designer Series Paper pack and the Memories and More pack are retiring.

Good Morning!  We are probably on our flight ready for take off as this post goes online.  Today’s card uses the Crafting Forever Stamp Set and this sentiment is perfect for those I’ll be seeing over the next couple of weeks.  We truly were Cut Out to be Friends …

Cut Out to be Friends

I’m sure you have friends like I do.  Friends that you hold dear and no matter how long it is between seeing each other it’s like you weren’t apart.  Friends that you’ve know for year, dont remember when or how you met but know you’ll be friends forever.  Those friends that sometimes know you better than you know yourself.  Yes those friends!

Some of those friends I’ll be seeing over the next two weeks and to say I’m excited is an understatement.  Some are from Australia, some from United States of America and some from Canada and some from Europe and the United Kingdom.  Where else can you enjoy working a job that brings you into contact with such wonderful people and at such wonderful destinations.

Who knew all those years ago watching Northern Exposure on TV I’d be visiting Alaska and with such wonderful people and all paid for by such a wonderful Company like Stampin’ Up! I did tell you I was excited didnt I?

Today’s card was cased from a sample in the catalogue.  I’ve stamped my images in Jet Black Stazon and water coloured them with my Stampin’ Up! Classic Inks and my beloved Aqua Painter.

The sentiment is heat embossed with White Embossing powder.  I love how it pops on the black cardstock banner.

I cant believe this day is here! Seems it was  coming for months and months and now it is here!  I’m so very grateful for Stampin’ Up!, my family, for my friends, customers and especially my Latte Girls Team.  Without all of you this trip today would not be happening.
